Togo, Africa pictures 6

Sunset

Last night before Christel and Jebha left.

Modeling clothes we had made.
Result of "traditional medicine" It was reported that he had a small abscess on the left side of his neck 5 days ago. There is no way of knowing what he actually had on his left neck 5 days prior to this, or what was done in the interim 5 days. I only have my summations based on the swelling and necrosis of the tissues of his neck that extended nearly circumferentially.

Memouna's empty hospital bed, foam blocks and traction still in place.

The first Friday of every month the Drake's, a long-term missionary family that work with the Christian radio station and are involved with Bible translation, host a themed single's night. This past Friday was March Madness. Random jerseys found at the local market.

Three teams of three (the two boys combined counted as one). In no particular order: Adam & Faith Drake and their kids Oceana, Celeste, August, & Nicodemus, Janelle, Caroline, Tara, Theresa, myself

The meal was all court-side food, nachos, soft pretzels, and a very large chocolate chip cookie!

Kelly, Amanda & Melissa; the cheerleaders!

The little baby in this picture is one of a set of twin boys that had been at HoH after their birth. After their discharge Theresa kept in contact with the family and would visit. Her relationship with the family has continued to develop and now whenever she is not working at the hospital on a Saturday she goes to their community and hosts a kid's club. In the above pictures you can see they are coloring pictures and having a story lesson. This particular day the story was about Moses, the Plagues and the Passover. We then play games, that day we played keep away and Duck, Duck, Wolf (when teaching the game Theresa wasn't sure if they knew what a goose was so she had substituted Wolf for sake of ease). The kids starting in the back and moving clockwise: Yendoube, Emiline (with one of the twins), Martine, Landrine, Winiga, Bienvenue & Jade

We next moved to the home of Theresa and Amanda for another kid's club. They will periodically invite the neighborhood kids into their home. Starts off with games, legos, coloring pages, and other fun activities. This is followed by story time; this week the lesson was about creation. Then they serve popcorn and juice.

they were incredibly well behaved. Amanda and Theresa have had as many as 40 kids come to their kids club, which can get a bit unruly. But this evening was golden.

Her baby brother had started crying, before you could blink she had grabbed him and swung him onto her back. She ran out the gate, grabbing a pagne from home in less than a few seconds she returned to hear the rest of the story with baby brother wrapped on her back.
Fulani children heading home.

They were in some sort of serious discussion about their coloring pages.

Stopping in Fare to pick up a sewing machine on the way to the village church in Nantchare.

Tara helps run Sunday school in Nantchera, her translator (French to Anoufo) just had a baby this week.
proud big sister and brother
Jason is the son of Christos (hospital administration and pastor for the Nantchera). He wanted to be held, so when Tara wanted to hold the new baby I was happy to step in and offer my arms. He seemed content with that.

Mouna is the daughter of one of the hospital chaplains who is from Nantchera and attends on Sunday's to help translate (French to Anoufo)
