I was supposed to be moving to Omaha this week, last week was to be my last week here in Lafayette. Instead, this week I am still here in Lafayette and last week found me vacationing with the family in St. Louis. Making lemonade out of lemons!
Returned Sunday night from St. Louis and of course I was on call Monday. Typical and very reminiscent of residency vacations always bookended by call. All possible call squeezed out of you up till the day you leave and the second you set foot back in the hospital again. Quite a bit of job security in that I guess. But it also makes for very difficult calls. On one end you are so close to travel, you want to just go already. And on the opposite end, you've just returned from travel and are appropriately exhausted. Thankfully Monday call was gentle on me this time.
Arrival in St. Louis. Of course have to check out the Gateway Arch National Park.
Model of the Arch in the museum.
